Saúl Chapela

Saúl Chapela is a galician composer and pianist, born 27 May 1988 in the seaside village of Moaña. He is graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo, where he studied among others with Nicasio Gradaille, Pablo Galdo and Carlos Cambeiro. Nowadays, he's doing a master in composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with professors Jan Müller-Wieland and Hans-Jürgen von Bose.

As composer, he wins the first international prize “Boston GuitarFest Composition Competition” (Catarsis for guitar, published by Ut Orpheus) and the first prize “Composition Competition Manuel Quiroga” (Old leaves for violin and string orchestra). His first symphony, called Symmetrical Symphony, is presented by the orchestra of the Conservatorio Superior de Vigo at “Explurart14” and his concert for violin and string orchestra, Old Leaves, is published in the 150 anniversary CD of the Conservatorio Profesional Manuel Quiroga de Pontevedra. Also, his works are played at concert halls in Germany, Finland, Switzerland and USA.

As pianist, he is awarded at “Piano Competition Real Club Náutico of Vigo” and “V Musical Excellence Awards, Mans Futuro”. He plays recitals which include repertoire classics and his own works.

For the media, he composes and produces the OST of O Show de... directed by Samuel Lema and he collaborates as performer in other short films. Recently, he is finalist at "Ringtone Music Call for Scores. Redshift Music Society" (Ringtone Shift for ensemble).
